I was born and raised in New Orleans, a very creative city. Influenced by the vibrant culture and strong artistic nature of my surroundings, I knew at a young age that I wanted to be an artist. I graduated from UNO with a major in painting, opened a studio to teach art to children and also helped pay the bills by being a free-lance commercial artist. For 35 years I put my dream on hold. About 8 years ago I started pursuing it again and reignited my passion to paint. I now reside in Lutz (Tampa), Florida with my husband. He’s a musician and my daughter is a ballerina with Atlanta Ballet, so we are a pretty creative family! We’ve been fortunate to travel a great deal and I get a lot of my inspiration for my art from our adventures.
I would call myself a modern, expressionist landscape painter. I am always moved by the beauty in nature. It is wondrous and mysterious to me. There seems to be a hidden energy underneath it all that I strive to capture. It is also very personal in how it inspires my imagination. The incredible colors, the intense light as it hits the edge of a cloud or the shape of an old tree are my tools I work with as I create my own interpretation of what I see. All the colors you see in my paintings exist in nature. I’ve just moved them around a bit. For me, it’s all about the joy of creating something I think is beautiful that I want to share with others.
