Tampa has no shortage of homes in need of a refresh. Many of them, built 20–30 years ago, once dazzled with the trends of their time. But styles evolve, and today, these homes often need a little design love to shine again. Cheval, a gated master-planned community in North Tampa, is known for its beautiful surroundings and spacious properties. Many of the homes here feature strong Mediterranean architecture with dark, heavy elements and traditional décor. While once in vogue, today’s homeowners tend to prefer lighter, more modern aesthetics that feel fresh and relevant in 2025.

As many of you know, I contribute to Bay Magazine, a publication of the Tampa Bay Times, where I share stories focused on design, luxury, and lifestyle. The May issue just dropped, and I was thrilled to be invited to showcase an amazing transformation we completed on an Cheval home.

Key takeaways from the project:

1. Mediterranean Meets Modern: These styles can absolutely coexist. It’s all about balance, proportion, and telling a cohesive story through color and style.

2. Open Concept is King: Today’s lifestyle calls for fluid, connected spaces. Where formal dining rooms once ruled, outdoor entertaining areas now often take center stage.

3. Color is a Game-Changer: Never underestimate the power of paint. Accent walls are trending, and wallpaper can inject instant personality into a room.

This was such a fun project—and I hope it inspires you!

Cheers,
