One room challenge sign

Can you say exciting, exuberating, and almost there? Welcome to our One Room Challenge Week 7.

That’s what I’m feeling today about my soon to be updated home workout room for the ORC 2023 spring event. It’s crazy how time flies when you have an accident, break a foot and a shoulder, then re-boot, and are having so much fun.

If you have not been following along check out past blogs here: Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, Week 4, Week 5 and Week 6.

One Room Challenge Week 7 – the dots are being connected and we are days away of the finish line.

My favorite design helper

Lincoln the design dog is always ready to pitch in.

I’m not a DYI-er. I’m a Tampa luxury interior designer and have a great team of professionals who work with me.

Electrical started

My trusted GC, South Shore Construction was at my space adding electrical boxes for my new lighting sconces from Progress Lighting. It was not as simple as the task sounds. There was a stud in a weird place that prohibited my planned placement. There was also a vent that made the drop down of cords a bit more complex. So through the ceiling we went which now means re-texturing and painting the ceiling.

The custom room sign was mounted.

This room deserves a name “the energy escape” and a beautiful sign. Last year my good friend and business coach LuAnn Nigeria gifted me with a Home Frosting sign for our new offices. I loved it and wanted one for this project as well. Turns out they are made in America by a family-run business called 1801 and Co. The aesthetic was ideal, clean and simple and the best part, they turned around my custom sign product and delivered it in 3 days.

The mirrors arrived and were installed.

Thank you Uttermost for helping me out here with 3 simple, black ones. Adding these really opens up the room and reflects the outdoor inside.

Installing mirrors

Eric is the master art and mirror installer.

The wall of wood wonder showed up and was carefully installed.

Ian Martin, who owns Tricolor Floors, I love you even more, after this project. This element was a game changer. The organic vibe gives an upscale, spa look to the room. And it will be the perfect back drop for my natural green art from Gold Leaf Design Group, that will go up this week. The wall product we used was amazing and called Thrive. It’s a US made luxury vinyl. Until this project I would never have thought a vinyl floor would be part of any project I did. Yes, the thought of any with that name, the big V brought up images of 1970 linoleum, YUCK! If you were like me, get that out of your mind. This product has all the characteristics of natural wood and from Happy Feet international. Plus it’s washable and waterproof. Robert one of Tricolor Floors expert installers turned my white wall into a masterpiece.

The final touches happen on week 8 of the One Room Challenge. You will see the green art installed, the lights working, we will add a shelf, accessorize, place workout equipment and bring in one of our favorite photographers, Tony Sica to professionally capture the project.

Until next time, make it an outstanding week!
